Yay hi! *waves ecstatically*
Life has been mad over the last 18 months, so I made the decision to take a step back from Janey for a bit to get my head around everything. At one point, I even thought ‘well that was fun while it lasted, a lovely lockdown project to look back on’.
However, I cannot begin to explain how much I have missed her, and you! So here I am, ready to shout about small creative businesses and spreading joy through making, for everyone.
So, you up for a little catch up?
Obviously, because I’m me… I’ve not stopped keeping an eye on things, and have bought a few bits while I’ve been MIA.
Here are some recent ones:

Motivational hoop by Oh Squirrel

Spring daisies by Zooniverse Designs

Ghosty guy by Curious Oaf

Glittery squiggles (naturally) from Kam Creates

Lil octopus planter by Klara Smith
But mostly, it has been things for the wedding because…
… I got engaged eeeek!
Charlie & I have been together 11 years this year, and just before Christmas 2021 he asked me to marry him in our happy place (the beach of course).
We are getting married in September this year, and are trying super hard to either shop small or make things ourselves for the day, so expect lots of chat about suppliers, inspo and DIY decorations over on Insta! (follow me @janeycreative) For now, take a look at this post I wrote back in September 2021 about how to shop small for your big day (back when I had no idea that it was about to become way more relevant!) for a taste of what’s to come.

I’ve been lucky enough to spend a Sunday a month in SoLo Craft Fair’s fabulous shop in Elephant & Castle in London, happily surrounded by the wares of over 60 different makers (and mostly resisting spending my whole pay-check on them).
Keep an eye out next month for a lovely list of small businesses I’ve discovered there!
There are new makers stocked every month, so if you are nearby, pop in and have a browse!
I was also involved in the planning of their 2 most recent markets in Dulwich, one in April and one November. Both were incredible days, I so enjoyed meeting all of the talented makers and looking at all of their wares. The next one is coming up in a couple of weeks, on Saturday 15th April, so get that in your diary. Here are the details, it would be great to see you there!
In the meantime, pop into their shop in Elephant Park, and while you’re there, why not grab a cracking coffee and a pastry from Little Louie, and browse the treasures from Vintage Matters.
There are also lots of fabulous new restaurants and bars nearby (check out Korean restaurant Horangee Pocha & grab a cocktail (or 4) at Cherry Tiger), so do check those out if you have the time!
This is the first post back of many – I will be appearing here on the last Friday of every month, so watch this space. I’ve got big plans for Janey, and I can’t wait to take you along for the ride!
Thanks for popping over!
See ya,
Janey x
