Hi! Thanks for coming back for another Monthly Rundown – this time it was lovely sunny June.
We had a mad heatwave, then a whole load of rain; I’ve bought my fair share of bunches of peonies at various supermarkets; I have caught up with friends who’s faces I haven’t seen in person for longer than I care to think about; and bagged myself my first vaccine!
As life begins to return to something vaguely familiar, I have found myself losing the creative time that I have enjoyed having over the last year and a half, while my diary fills with plans in the outside world. As exciting as this is, I can’t help but long for (rose-tinted specs?!) my loungewear and an excuse to cosy up inside with my knitting!
But as long as those makers are gonna make, I’m gonna love them for it, and you bet I have still reached the end of June with new creatives to applaud!
ON THE BLOG THIS MONTH
4th June – Daddy, Daddy Cool
First up in June was my Father’s Day card line up – that’s 15 small businesses and makers who had us covered, whether that be for the Dad, Step-Dad, like-a-Dad, dog Dad, cat Dad or plant Dad! And all of these offer other cards and products all year round, so don’t hesitate to go back and show them some love!
11th June – Creative Q&A: Hazel and Blue
I had a chat to lovely Becky, of Hazel and Blue – beautiful soy candles and candle making kits galore!
18th June – Creative Q&A: Lotta’s House
Last week was time for another chat, this time with embroidery expert Charlotte of Lotta’s House.
WHO I’M FOLLOWING ON INSTAGRAM
3 new accounts I have discovered this month:
@littlelightstitchery
If inspirational (and a little bit rude) embroidery is your thing, then you are bloomin’ welcome for this find…

@littlewillow.uk
Sarah of Little Willow makes these lush banners from mostly second hand fabric – discovered as a result of a share by Emma Warren, who has recently purchased one for her new studio!

@dandysloth
I first came across Dandy Sloth’s joyful feed when looking around for Father’s Day cards for the edit, and boy am I glad I did.

WHAT I’M BUYING
In a moment of full ‘treat yo’self’, I bought this gorge keyring from the amazing Liz Harry, along with my Father’s Day cards from Amelia Illustration and Forever Funny!

WHAT I’M WEARING
I keep on reaching for my summer days t-shirt by Hello Dodo (shop here!), and hey, looks aren’t everything… their clothes are manufactured in a climate neutral factory that runs on wind and solar power. How cool is that?!

WHAT I’M MAKING
So if you read last month’s rundown, you may remember me blabbering on about the fabric I bought ready to attempt my first Tilly and the Buttons pattern in her Make It Simple book. Well I only went and bloody did it – I made my own pair of the Safiya trousers! With a whole lot of help from Tilly’s sewalong on Instagram (@tillybuttons), I actually created a pair of trousers that fit really well – I’ll crack out a few poses and show case my new garms on Instagram soon (you’re welcome, I know you won’t rest until the day)!
Thanks so so much for reading – I hope your June was filled with sparkly things and rainbows…
July? Let’s be ‘avvin ya!
Janey
